An extension of the Blue Mountains sewerage works to run untreated sewerage via a 9.5 kilometre tunnel from Hazelbrook to Faulconbridge then on to the Winmalee Sewerage Treatment Plant. Boreholes ranging in length from 60m to 350m were directionally drilled into the tunnel at various places to deliver sewerage to the system from intermediate surface holding tanks.
