Built to alleviate the cross city traffic that constantly congests the city of Sydney running from Rushcutters Bay in the east to Darling Harbour in the west. It runs beneath the streets and buildings of the Sydney Central Business District and included excavation with roadheaders and creation of main tunnels, ventilation tunnel, cross passages and internal shafts.
Nigel Pohio of BEM Group was contracted as General Superintendent (Tunnels) for this project.
